What is in Store for the Zoo in 2014?

2014.  A new year, new beginnings and hopefully a more positive outlook for the future.  What are the plans for the Talbert Zoo in 2014? Just thinking about the new year gives me mixed feelings.  I am terrified of what could or might happen in the upcoming year. Yet I am hopeful that we will continue to be blessed.  I am concerned about my country and my childrens’ future.  But I am excited about all the possibilities and opportunities my family will have in our local community and schools. So…

I was Hacked and Other Stories from the Zoo

The Talbert Zoo has been pretty busy lately.  School is in full swing, Chris is still travelling for work and I am finding less and less time to myself.  When it really gets crazy sometimes I just want to run outside and scream, but I am sure I would attract the wrong kind of attention if I did that.  Instead, I’m going to keep taking life one day at a time and pray for patience. Happy Halloween, The Smashed Pumpkins and Other Stories from the Zoo

This morning was really rough.  I was going to write about Monkey’s temper tantrum and violent behavior, but something even more alarming happened to us last night. I woke early, before six so I could read my bible and pray the rosary.  I like to do this before anyone else gets up. However, this morning I wasn’t able to have my typical “me time.”  Kitty, Monkey and Bear all climbed in bed with me last night.  And when I woke up, Monkey was also awake. While I was downstairs brewing…

Friday Funny and Week Recap at the Zoo

It seems like my job never ends.  I am awakened by little boys yelling, “Is it morning yet?” right around 6 am. After I answer, “Yes, you can get up now,” I feed them breakfast, help them get dressed, rush three kids to the bus stop for school, referee fights and arguments, do dishes, do laundry, help pick up toys, feed them lunch, put the little one down for a nap, get after school snacks together, help with homework, cook dinner, argue with the teenager, calm down, eat dinner, do…

October Catch Up at The Zoo

This month I’ve let my Talbert Zoo readers down and I apologize. It’s been a few weeks since I last updated this blog.  October is nearly over and I still am not used to my family’s school schedule yet.  It’s been a busy, crazy couple of months. I’ll try my best to catch you all up on the happenings at The Talbert Zoo. Monkey and Bear October 2013 Goose is now a junior in high-school and sometimes I can not believe that she is that old.  School has been tough…

Yesterday

Yes I am using a one word title for this post.  I thought about titling it, “Yesterday was Plain Awful,” but that reminds me too much of a song from little orphan Annie.  It is true, yesterday was plain awful.  What started out to be an exciting first day of school ended with one tired, exhausted  Mamma. By six-o-clock I was ready to just give up. Taking care of the kids can get tiring but usually I get a few breaks and am able to find a little time to…

The First Day of School and Other Tails from the Zoo

Today is the most exciting, wonderful, happiest day of the year for moms like me.  It is the day when the toys stay picked up for longer than an hour.  The house gets quiet and I get more me time.  Yes it is finally here.  Today is the first day of school at the Talbert Zoo.   Summer has come to an end and it is time for a different kind of crazy.  This year I decided to put together a daily schedule for myself.  In the past I learned…

Summer Wrap up at the Zoo

This week is the last full week of summer vacation before the kids go back to school.  Chris and I made sure that the kids had a fun-filled summer this year.  Between family vacations, tee-ball, dance, swimming lessons, and birthdays we were busy and summer just flew by.  Now I am looking forward to school starting and Kitty, Parrot and Monkey are excited about going to a brand new elementary school next week. To celebrate the end of summer Chris decided to take the whole family to Silverwood Theme Park…

August News from the Zoo and a Fun Family Vacation

This summer has been crazy busy and I apologize for not updating this blog as often as I promised.  Swimming lessons ended a couple of weeks ago and Kitty had a week long dance camp last week.  Parrot is busy with Tee Ball, which is ending in a couple of weeks.  I am so ready to send my kids back to school, although school does not start back up again until after Labor Day. July was filled with vacations, birthdays, swimming lessons, dance, Tee Ball and one unplanned trip.  The…
