August News from the Zoo and a Fun Family Vacation

This summer has been crazy busy and I apologize for not updating this blog as often as I promised.  Swimming lessons ended a couple of weeks ago and Kitty had a week long dance camp last week.  Parrot is busy with Tee Ball, which is ending in a couple of weeks.  I am so ready to send my kids back to school, although school does not start back up again until after Labor Day. July was filled with vacations, birthdays, swimming lessons, dance, Tee Ball and one unplanned trip.  The best way for me to sum up what we have been up to is in photos.  Enjoy!
At the Family Reunion in Wisconsin Chris slipped and fell and bruised a couple of ribs.  He is almost completely healed up now.

The kids loved swimming at the local outdoor pool/ beach near my parents’ house.

We also played at local parks while we were on vacation.

Grandma and Grandpa set up a sandbox in their driveway.  The kids had hours of fun playing in the sand.

We visited my friend from high-school who now has six boys.  I thought I had my hands full with five.

Monkey helped Grandpa vacuum Grandma’s car.

The kids were so tired they fell asleep just about anywhere at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

We had fun watching the thunder storms in the evening.

Parrot found a toad at his uncles house.

The boys loved sitting on the swing with Grandpa.

Monkey helped Grandpa mow the lawn.

Parrot was so proud of this 500 piece puzzle he put together on a rainy day at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

Of course we had to visit the zoo while we were out there!

We had fun relaxing by the fire pit with Grandma and Grandpa.

The kids ran through the sprinkler when the weather was hot.

And relaxed with Grandpa on the swing.

We played and played some more at local parks.

And, saw a cool concert on the square in Madison.  I even said hello to my old flute teacher from college! He performs with the orchestra.

Monkey had sore feet so we soaked them in warm water.

We also made home made ice cream, which was so much fun and it tasted more like custard than ice cream.

We met up with my brother, his wife and daughter at a cool farmer’s market type store.  Monkey stayed at their house for a few days while I flew out to Las Vegas to meet up with Chris to celebrate our tenth anniversary, which was in April.

I admired my Mom’s beautiful flowers which I planted over ten years ago.

Las Vegas was so much fun! Chris and I needed the break.

We had a fun-filled Fourth of July at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

One last time at the beach.

One last time at the park.

One last time catching lightening bugs.

And fireworks with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle and Cousin.
