Florida Vacation Part One

We left for sunny Florida on Friday afternoon when the kids got out of school.  The first leg of the trip went fairly well and we made it to Louisville, KY around midnight. After spending the night at a hotel we left Louisville at 8am Saturday morning.

The drive on Saturday was beautiful. We enjoyed watching the seasons change from winter to spring the further south we got.  The trees went from barron to full leaves by the time we got down to Georgia.  A couple of traffic jams due to construction and a stop at a Chick fil a for dinner set us back a couple of hours. We finally made it to Bradenton, Florida at 12:30 am.

Sunday morning we went to mass and then headed to Anna Maria Island. Everyone goes to the beautiful beaches on the weekends so we were stuck in traffic.  The ten mile drive to the island took an hour.

My parents have gone down to Anna Maria Island for spring break every single year ever since I was a kid. They stay at the same resort each year right on the beach. The kids enjoyed meeting up with and spending time with Grandma and Grandpa.

We played on the beach and splashed in the ocean.

Watched some kites fly up in the sky.

Took the trolley to another beach and park.

Played at a playground.

Then we walked back to Grandma and Grandpa’s resort and found a little creature hiding in the grass.

Can you find it?

At Grandma and Grandpa’s resort we begain to put together a puzzle.

And we watched the sun disappear into the ocean.

The weather today was beautiful, but tommorrow we are expecting thunder storms.  We might take the kids to an aquarium in Sarasota if it rains.

All week I will be updating the Talbert Zoo with stories from our Florida vacation.  I don’t know if I will have time to visit all of your blogs and leave you comments until I return. But, please stop by and leave me a comment so I know that you were here! I promise to reply and return all comments as soon as I can.
