Stress, Stress and More Stress

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about our crazy, busy calendar for April. You can read about it HERE. Now that we have been home from our Arizona Vacation for four days now I am in the middle of the craziness of this month and feeling the stress from it. This post is going to be a rant which is what I do to help deal with life when stress tries to take over. In nine days my in-laws arrive from Sacramento, California.  This time my sister-in-law and her…

Arizona Vacation Part Five

The Grandest Adventure of Them All! Yesterday we visited the Grand Canyon National Park. The kids have very short attention spans and it doesn’t take long for them to get bored so we stayed for only a couple of hours.  The Grand Canyon was formed two billion years ago when tectonic plates moved slowly across the earth’s surface. A plate carrying an island chain and the plate that became North America collided. The heat and pressure from this process changed the existing rock layers into dark metamorphic rock, which is…

Arizona Vacation Part Four

We are nearing the end of our family vacation.  The kids are tired and yesterday they did not behave.  Just about everything that you can  imagine could go wrong on a family vacation happened yesterday.  Chris decided we would go and see the painted dessert. He said it was on his bucket list, although I was not aware of this stop until yesterday.  We left sunny, warm Phoenix at 10 am and headed north east towards Flagstaff, Arizona.  The three hour drive up into higher elevation was very scenic.  Once…

Arizona Vacation Part Two

Exercise and family fitness is important to us.  So, yesterday we started out bright and early with a walk through the trail surrounding Papgago Park in Phoenix. Within the park stands beautiful sandstone buttes and Governor George Wiley Paul Hunt is entombed in  a white pyramid that is visible from almost any point in the park. Governor Hunt set a national record by being elected to the first, second, third, sixth, seventh, eighth and 10th term as Arizona’s governor. His wife, Helen, her parents, the J. W. Ellisons, and her…

Arizona Vacation Part One

It has been so refreshing to get away from the cold winds of Spokane and travel down to the beautiful state of Arizona.  The kids were troopers during the ride down here.  We had our DVD player running with Disney movies and Nick Jr. television shows for Monkey and Bear.  The older three kids had educational workbooks, books to read and their portable electronic devices to keep them occupied on the road.  I usually take a photo of the kids in the van when we go on a road trip,…

Vacation, Shopping with Kitty, The Tooth Fairy and Other Stories from the Zoo

This weekend flew by and now I am counting down the days until our vacation! I posted that to Facebook last night so now we have five more days until we leave. I still have some last minute things to do around the house and with my blogs before we leave. I am going to be busy getting ready for our trip (packing for four little ones plus myself takes up a lot of my free time) , so I am planning on taking the afternoons off of blogging this…

Friday Funny – #BlogHop #LinkUp – A Little Bear and a Song

I love music.  In fact I am a musician and have played the flute since I was in elementary school.  When I started college I was a music education major.  My dream was to become a high-school band director.  But, my dream ended when I failed music theory for the second time and was forced to either spend more years in school than I had first planned or change majors so I could graduate within five years.  It took me 4 1/2 years to finish my Bachelor’s degree in history…

Our Calendar is Full

Yesterday I decided to try to get more organized and updated my blogging calendar instead of writing in my blogs.  Was that a mistake? I sure hope not. Today a more motivated, energized and organized me has returned to the world of blogging and social media. The Talbert Zoo family calendar is also filling up fast for the month of April.  On April 5 we leave for our spring break vacation. Chris decided that he is sick and tired of the long cold winter we had this year so he’s…

Title This

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Like a majority of my posts here I am going to have to come up with a title after I am done writing.  I might just call it, “Bla, Bla,” or “Title This” to get some suggestions.  What do you think? As I am writing this I realize that I don’t have any good or new photos from my phone to add. Maybe I should just post random family photos from the past few months. I know I have quite a few saved on this…

The Talk, a Date with Bear, Lent and Other Stories from the Zoo

As I write this I am unable to think of an appropriate title. By the time I get to the end of this post hopefully I will have thought of a good title. Yesterday I was out of the house all day long and away from my computer.  Usually I spend the whole day at home. Yesterday was an exception. I dropped Monkey and Kitty off at school at 8 o’clock. When I got back home I had to gather a few items and then rush off with Little Bear…
