Potty Training Little Bear and Other Current Events at the Zoo

It is Monday again and my body is feeling it.  We had a nice weekend but it went by way too quickly.  Chris got home from a conference in San Antonio late Friday night.  Goose was disappointed when she got home from school and her dad wasn’t back yet.  We were all told that his flight would land in Spokane at 1 and he would be here when the kids got home from school. His original flight was over booked and the airlines gave him a choice to either fly home at the scheduled time or take a later flight in exchange for $500 of airline credits and a few other small extras.  He chose the later flight disappointing all the kids.  But I think they are over it now.

I woke up super tired this morning due to not enough sleep last night and what else can I say, it’s Monday.  Chris is working from home most of this week so I decided to really crack down on potty training little Bear. So far my strategy which worked for his siblings is not working on him.

This is the drill.  Every 20 minutes I put him on the potty while watching Sesame Street: Elmo’s Potty Time.  We have watched that video completely six times before noon today and he still has not gone pee pee or poopie on  his potty yet. Bear peed on the floor once but that is it so far.  I am just waiting for him to poop on the floor too. As long as he continues to run around naked instead of sitting on the potty that is bound to happen.

I know I shouldn’t compare my kids but I always catch myself doing it anyway.  My first four were potty trained by the time they were 2 and 1/2.  Bear will be 2 1/2 next month.  I’ve tried so many different potty training methods with him but for some reason he just is not getting it.  This mommy will not give up!

As I am writing this Bear peed on the floor again. I told Chris that we need to get a seat belt for his potty and just buckle him in.  Chris replied, “We should just super glue his butt to the seat.”  Wouldn’t that be nice! If I did that CPS would surely be at my door. He’ll get it. He’s just taking his time.
