Vacation, Shopping with Kitty, The Tooth Fairy and Other Stories from the Zoo

This weekend flew by and now I am counting down the days until our vacation!

I posted that to Facebook last night so now we have five more days until we leave. I still have some last minute things to do around the house and with my blogs before we leave. I am going to be busy getting ready for our trip (packing for four little ones plus myself takes up a lot of my free time) , so I am planning on taking the afternoons off of blogging this week.  I usually spend the afternoons visiting and commenting on blogs. I am sorry if I don’t get around to visiting your blog this week. I am going to try my best to find a different time for reading blogs and commenting this week. I might have to do that late at night when the kids are in bed. When do you read and comment on blogs?

Kitty grew two inches in six months so I had to take her shopping for clothes for our trip.  We went out to our local Wal-Mart and a got some cute outfits for her.  Our family lives on a tight budget so we can’t afford to buy clothes for our kids at fancy boutiques. Wal-Mart is only 3 miles away from our home and the prices are just right for our family of seven. Please don’t bash Wal-Mart in your comments! I used to work there back when Kitty was a baby and it is a perfectly decent place to shop.

Now Kitty is set for our trip and summer.  I got her a new swim suit, 2 sets of pajamas, and five pairs of shorts with tops to go with. Kitty is so much fun to take shopping.  She is easy to please. The only problem with shopping with my little girl is that she wants everything in the store. Well, almost. If it has “My Little Pony” on it she wants it. It is so hard to say no to that darling little girl smile.  In fact I gave in and bought her a “My Little Pony,” cup for $5.00.  Now all the kids want something similar.

I also got all the kids new sandals for our trip. I decided to get the boys’ matching sandals.  Later yesterday afternoon I went back to Wal-Mart with Goose so she could find sandals.  She has tiny feet for a 17-year-old and still has to wear kids sizes.  It is challenging to find shoes that fit her that don’t look too juvenile. I assumed that we would not find something that she would like at Wal-Mart and we would end up driving out to Spokane, but I was wrong and we went home with a cute pair of brown sandals that buckle around her ankle.

Yesterday Parrot lost his first tooth.  We were super excited for him! He had his first visit from the Tooth Fairy.

Parrot got a whole dollar from the Tooth Fairy. When Kitty saw his dollar she got jealous so in her typical stubborn strong-willed determined manner, she went into the bathroom this morning and wiggled her barely loose tooth until it came out.

It’s her top tooth. I know it is hard to see in the photo.

Losing teeth is contagious at the Talbert Zoo and the Tooth Fairy is going to be pretty busy!

Tomorrow I have a MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers)  meeting in the morning and the rest of the week will be spent packing. In case you haven’t heard I am looking for guest bloggers for the week that I will be gone.  I am planning on updating the Talbert Zoo with stories about our trip, but I need to schedule posts to run in thehealthymoms.net.  If you are interested in submitting a guest post please visit This Link for details.
