Cold Weather, Halloween and Other News from the Zoo

I think this is just going to be a rant. I haven’t decided what to title this yet. Hopefully I will come up with something before I finish writing this.

Kitty’s Jack o’ Lantern

I got a new laptop this week and I absolutely love it.  It is an HP Pavilion TouchSmart with Windows 8.  When I was shopping around for new laptops a lot of reviews I read said that if you have Windows 8 you must get a touch screen in order to really use all of Windows 8’s capabilities.  They were absolutely right!  With the touch screen it is almost like I have a laptop and a tablet all  in one.  I’m also getting used to all the apps in the start screen, but for some reason my Netflix app isn’t working right.  The only think I don’t like about this laptop is that the battery only lasts four hours and when it dies I have to put it on the charger for a couple of hours before I use it again.  But that gives me a little break so I can eat lunch and do some housework while it is charging.  I think I will get used to it.

The weather has been cooling off out here in Spokane.  There is a chill in the air and I heard on the news that it snowed in the higher elevations.  It won’t be long before the snow hits my neighborhood.  This year it is my turn to take the kids out Trick ‘or Treating and I am not looking forward to going out in the cold.  I am going to have to take the pictures of the kids in their costumes while they are still indoors, because they need to wear their winter coats while Trick or Treating. Chris won’t be home until after 6:30 Thursday night so I have to get the kids ready and feed them before he gets home.  Trick or Treating starts at 6pm.  I am a little stressed out about this.

I just found out this morning that Monkey is going to be assessed for learning disabilities and ADHD.  When I posted that on facebook I got a bunch of “pitty” comments.  People were giving me sympathy and telling me it will be alright. You know what?  I have two other children with high functioning autism and another child with Trichotillomania. ADHD and learning disabilities is no big deal.  He is going to be fine. In fact I am relieved that his teacher caught it early and Monkey will get the help that he needs.  I am not worried or concerned. In fact this news did not surprise me either. Please don’t give me sympathy or say “It’s going to be alright.” I know that.

Chris and I were joking around and saying that Little Bear is our only normal kid.  We tried four times and finally got it right when our fifth child was born! Okay, the truth is we love all our children very, very much and non of them are abnormal they just have their own unique and special little quirks.

I think I’ve gotten enough therapy from writing this.  I hope all of you have a fun and safe Halloween. I’ll make sure I post photos of the kids in their costumes on Friday.
