Fishy Fish, Jew Water and Other Zooisms

I think the animals are going wild this week at The Talbert Zoo.  Nice weather and summer time just around the corner is contributing to the “wild-ness.”  Yesterday Monkey scared us half to death. He asked me if he could play outside but I told him that he had to wait because I was just getting out of the shower.  I had all the doors locked downstairs but the Monkey escaped. When I got down there I noticed that the sliding glass door was unlocked and Monkey was nowhere to…

Now I know Why some Stay at Home Moms Smoke and Drink

I made a sandwich with the last two slices of bread for Parrot today. When I sat it down on the table he chose to sit at a different seat instead of in front of his sandwich. Monkey asked for the same kind of sandwich but on a bagel instead. As I made Monkey’s sandwich Parrot continued to sit at the seat away from his. By the time I got to the table with Monkey’s bagel sandwich Monkey was eating Parrot’s lunch. Parrot is throwing a fit. I am going…

Boys and Baby Dolls

Meet Baby. Baby is Monkey’s new best friend. Monkey loves to mimic Mom and Dad and has observed us take care of little Bear. Like a good mommy, Monkey feeds Baby (he even tried to breast feed her once), changes her diaper, pushes her in a stroller and tucks her in bed for naps. Baby goes everywhere with Monkey. Even though Monkey loves his baby doll and will occasionally play with his sister’s Barbies he still reminds me every day that he is a boy. He loves his football, pushing…

Monkey’s Day in The Zoo

I am so sorry I haven’t updated this blog in a while. My husband has been out of town a lot more often than normal this summer and it well, just has been crazy in our home. Below is a little story about what Monkey did yesterday. Yes this is a true story and told in a way that only a two year old can tell. Monkey’s Day in the Zoo I had a busy day today. Mommy made me waffles for breakfast but I really wanted juice. I got…

Butt Monkey

Monkey doesn’t talk very much, but we are working on adding new words to his vocabulary every day. Recently, as I was changing his diaper I was trying to get him to say his first name. I kept on repeating, “What is your name, little boy?” over and over again. Finally he replied, “Butt.” I laughed hysterically. So now we call him “Butt Monkey.” I think that one is going to stick. Anchors Aweigh

I wish someone made one of these bad boys for chairs. I would be their best customer. When Monkey wants something he goes and gets it by pushing the dining room chairs all over the house. Sharp knives, small appliances, and household cleaning supplies are his favorites. I can not put them high enough. Do your kids move your furniture all over the place? Monkey and The Ketchup

Monkey loves to eat. Mostly he loves to eat food that is not his. The kids can’t leave unfinished snacks on the dining room table without Monkey getting into it. Every sippy cup is his too. If the pantry door is opened or the refrigerator is open Monkey is right there within seconds. He is quick and knows how to get what he wants. A few days ago the fridge was opened and he grabbed the ketchup. It didn’t take him long to have that sweet red sauce all over…

Cheers

When Grandma and Grandpa were visiting we shared a bottle of wine. No I did not let the animals have any. However we did clink our glasses together for a round of “cheers.” Monkey saw us do this twice during their visit. This weekend while we were watching the football playoffs Monkey took his sippy cup and went back and forth to us saying, “Cheers.” The co-zookeeper and I got a good laugh out of it, until Monkey nearly made me spill my beer all over Bear’s head. That was…
