Reaching Into My Magic Jar

Before I stay up late tonight to answer my #AskAwayFriday questions, I thought I better put a post inbetween that one and my #WordlessWednesday.  January has been so busy this year, I realized that most of my posts for this month are #WordlessWednesday and #AskAwayFriday.  I am doing better with commenting on other blogs, but writing needs some improvement. I think it is time once again to reach into my magic jar and pull out some spare time. I have exactly 43 minutes to write and publish this post before…

The Adventures of Happy the Elf #Elfontheshelf #Christmas

Christmas is just six days away and Happy the Elf has been busy keeping an eye on the Talbert kids.  Every night he goes to the north pole to report to Santa and in the morning he returns, sometimes in the most unusual places. On the morning of December 1, Kitty spotted our little elf friend on the shelf of our book case.  He looked like a kind and friendly little elf, so the kids quickly named him Happy. Happy lives up to his name. He is indeed a kind…

#WordlessWednesday with #linky on a Tuesday – Making Christmas Cookies

Wordless Wednesday is live on thehealthymoms.net and talbertzoo.com. Link up to your Wordless Wednesday post. After a whirlwind weekend of all seven of us getting sick I finally had the chance to make my Christmas cut outs and let the kids decorate them on Monday.  I used Pillsbury sugar cookie dough found in refrigerator rolls.  The directions stated that you have to cut them out into 1/2 inch height. I followed the directions, and used Christmas cookie cutters but ended up with giant blobs instead of beautiful Christmas shapes. Now…

I Need a Vacation

**Please note this post is a little graphic and should not be read by persons with a weak stomach. It has been a rough and hectic couple of weeks for me.  Thanksgiving arrived and I was busy cooking, cleaning and entertaining my family.  Now that it is December my kids are excited and anxious about Christmas.  Our tree is up, the lights are out on our front porch, our advent wreath is up and the nativity scene is displayed.  I finally got my Christmas cards addressed and ready to mail…

The Talent Show

Yesterday was the talent show at Snowdon Elementary School where Kitty, Parrot and Monkey attend.  Kitty did a stand up comedy routine that I wrote and she had the whole place laughing. She is a natural on stage and I could tell she was having a lot of fun with it too.  I recorded it and uploaded the video to YouTube. I hope you can take the time to watch it and let me know what you think. It is about 6 minutes long. Does she have a potential career…

Is it June Already?

I can not believe that it is June already.  May was so busy that if I blinked I would have missed it.  Here we are welcoming a new month, a new season, and new possibilities for the Talbert Zoo.  Last week I took a couple of days off of blogging.  I was ready to give up on all of my websites and just be a mother and wife. This decision was due to the fact that we learned that there is a 99% chance that we will be moving to…

A Boy and His Hat

Little Bear loves hats. There is his puppy dog hat. And his new puppy dog hat. And his favorite red sun hat. He even takes a nap with his hat. He wears a hat when we go for walks. And while playing outside on the swing set. Bear loves hats. Yesterday, Chris said, “I can not believe I have a hat boy. I never thought I would have a son that always wore hats.  I guess now I know what to get him when I travel.” This morning Little Bear…
