Balancing Family and My Blogs

Ever since my fifth child was born back in 2010, it has been a struggle to find time for my blogs and my family.  I’ve wrote about this several times right here on the Talbert Zoo.  I wrote about how blogging has changed, I sorted my time and priorities, and as a mother of five kids, four with special needs and a husband who works 80+ hours a week, I have had my share of stress, stress and more stress. I’ve been doing this blogging thing for nearly 8 years…

#WordlessWednesday with #linky on a Tuesday – School Open House

Wordless Wednesday is live on thehealthymoms.net and talbertzoo.com. Link up to your Wordless Wednesday post. This is going to be a Wordful Wednesday because I haven’t had much time to update this blog over the past week.  On April 22, Google launched a new update for how websites appear on mobile search. The Healthy Moms Magazine dropped out of the search so I have been busy overhauling the on page SEO to get my rankings back. I lost 2,000 page views a day because of this update. I’m still working hard…

#WordlessWednesday with #linky on a Tuesday – Happy Eggs

Wordless Wednesday is live on thehealthymoms.net and talbertzoo.com. Link up to your Wordless Wednesday post.Sorry it’s been a week since I’ve updated this blog. I have been very busy since we got back from Florida. We had the triduum, which is the three days of prayer leading up to Easter, then of course Easter and appointments for the kids last week. I am hoping to be able to get back to blogging regularly on both blogs next week. I’m still playing catch up with all the e mails I got while…

My New Project

I am starting a new project and I need to reach out to bloggers for your help.  Before I get into the details of my project first I need to give you a little background about myself and my history with blogging. Some of you may not be familiar with my main blog, Healthy Moms Magazine.  I have been blogging there since 2007.  It started off as a way for me to share health and wellness information that I have learned from my inspiration (my husband Chris) and what I…

Is it June Already?

I can not believe that it is June already.  May was so busy that if I blinked I would have missed it.  Here we are welcoming a new month, a new season, and new possibilities for the Talbert Zoo.  Last week I took a couple of days off of blogging.  I was ready to give up on all of my websites and just be a mother and wife. This decision was due to the fact that we learned that there is a 99% chance that we will be moving to…

I am super excited to once again participate in The Ultimate Blog Party hosted by Janice and Susan from 5 Minutes for Mom. This year is the 8th year that they have held this event. Blogging and Other News from The Zoo

I’ve been blogging since 2007 and what was once just a hobby has turned into a full time work from home job.  I love it, have made great online friends along the way, and in the past, some decent money.  But now I am frustrated because I have reached  a plateau with The Healthy Moms Magazine. I feel like I am stuck and don’t know how to continue to climb the mountain. If you have been following my main blog you might know that I have a fairly large following…

How Blogging Has Changed Over the Past 6 Years

When I started blogging back in 2007 it was so easy.  Writing on my blog was my way of escaping from reality.  I would write a few paragraphs and forget about my newborn and postpartum depression for a couple of hours.  Back then when I was still learning how to grow my blog, professional bloggers emphasized the importance of creating discussions on your blog through comments. The best way to get readers was to comment on other blogs.  For the first couple of years I did that every single day.…

New Perspective on Blog Comments

Recently I started a discussion in a few different Blog Frog communities on this topic and I got a bunch of unique responses from seasoned bloggers and new bloggers which has led me to a new conclusion about commenting on blogs. As a veteran blogger I still believe that it is very important to leave comments on other blogs. Although, I have not been very good at doing this for the past year. Visit The Healthy Moms Magazine for the complete article. ARM & HAMMER Clump & Seal Platinum Multi-Cat…
